Israel has issued an urgent travel advisory for its citizens vacationing in Sri Lanka, urging immediate evacuation from popular coastal areas, particularly the renowned Arugam Bay, in response to potential terror threats. The National Security Council (NSC) advises those in these regions to relocate either to the capital, Colombo, where security forces are concentrated, or to leave the country altogether.

The advisory further recommends that Israeli travelers conceal their nationality and avoid large gatherings to reduce risks. Travel plans to other parts of Sri Lanka are also discouraged at this time. This warning follows a similar alert from the US Embassy, which flagged specific threats targeting tourist hotspots, particularly in Arugam Bay—a favorite destination for surfers.

In response to these warnings, Sri Lankan authorities have heightened security measures, assuring both locals and tourists of increased vigilance. The Israeli government remains in close coordination with Sri Lanka, monitoring developments to ensure the safety of its citizens.

This call for caution highlights ongoing concerns over potential terror activity in the region, with security forces on high alert to prevent any possible attacks.
